The First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit provides for a maximum credit of $8,000 towards the purchase of a new home. This is very exciting to me and I do believe it has caused a spike in activity.

The first version of the credit wasn’t a credit at all. You had to pay back the money. Now it is much better. The money is yours to claim and there is no need to pay it back. This really helps when considering the state of the economy.

If you are a first time homebuyer and would like to take advantage of this credit, do so quickly. The credit expires on December 1, 2009. This translates into speaking with a Realtor now to get started.
